Slam Poetry

First, Welcome back everyone from the Winter Break, and to the Spring Semester of 2008. I started this blog in my English 4790 class to display class readings and thoughts. Now, I will keep this going for school resources and points of interest, poetry (personal and for slam) and personal refections on world events.
Second, getting to the poetry aspect, there will be Slam Poetry at Papa Pete's downtown Kalamazoo every Monday Night, except the third Monday. The Youth Slam, will be held on that night, the Slam is also, held on each beginning Wednesday of the month hosted by Todd Bannon, (todd.bannon@wmich.edu).

Computer Time

Well, Computer time meant that I would just use the word processor and they were some educational games here and there. basically, it was time to write papers. It not much on the internet or on blogs, podcasts, or anything for that matter.

Technology Andy's Indy Teach

What has technology has done in the classroom by helping the students learn more affected the students have more hands on and more free range of what they do by researching and listening to speeches on you tube and other people's blogs. What the student can figure out by using technology in the regards of how we get informaton rather than not able to get in the classroom. Vital classrooms or long distance classroom where can have students be in another city or state even a country where they can be more open and able to be willing to change and have teachers be more involved in the current trends to teach the new tech for students to use in the "Real World."

slam poetry in the classroom

About Six years ago, wow, I was really into the Slam Movement but reality check happen and needed to find a career and life where I am happy. Turn out to very difficult life living to paycheck to paycheck. Not knowing if you hit big and that your poetry would actually entertain people or not. The politics, personalities, and general effect that was a focus in my life. Channeling the energy into other things like teaching and my life outside of teaching. But I think Slam Poetry is a great outlet for some people who need to raise other people's awareness about certain issues through the spoken word. How it has developed into an international thing, but never the memories or the experience that is what I am made up and don't deny its existence at all. Peace.

I am looking in the eyes this cop who is trying to break from this strike
He wants me go away and leave the factory
This person does not understand the factors of what this entails
Majority of the time I'm working to keep my kids from taken from me
A lot of times I' striking to keep this 20.50 job for reason for pride,
the lost of the American Mill worker or the fact i have set a good shift to work
from, a lot of times I wondering I'm out the cold sharing down a weaseling cop who is all badge not nothing else.
I sit and wonder I'm out in the cold fighting the rundown system that the government has forgotten about and left the American worker behind.
With the managers, overly dealings the contracts and the tv stations making matters worse. The diversion between the blue and white collars and what does it matter.
